A romantic interlude relies on a romantic location. And in the Steamlands, there's a wide variety of places for lovers to meet, whisper, kiss and *gasp* kanoodle. Intrepid romanticists that we at the Primgraph are, we want to know your favorite romantic spot!

From now through Saturday, January 22nd, we encourage you to reply to this blog entry with your choices. Please include an SLurl, as I am sure some of the choices will be secret, out of the way trysting places.
After Saturday, you will have an opportunity to vote on the places that have been suggested, and the final results will appear in our next issue of The Primgraph!
The Winterfell Ferry--departing from stops scattered throughout Winterfell, plus one stop at Caledon Cape Wrath -- http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Cape%20Wrath/147/158/23. Lounge with your beloved on the purple brocade cushions of the gondola-style ferry-boat, as it takes you on a long (35-minute) leisurely tour in and around the haunting twilight-drenched islands of Winterfell. Yes, it's a public conveyance, but all the times I've sailed in it I've had admirable privacy. ;)
ReplyDeleteI just love visiting New Toulouse as a romantic & adventurous excursion through the Steamlands! Rich with history, culture, art, music, shopping and scenery -- it's definitely a top destination worth visiting.

Fall in love all over again on Wando. All the romance of the deep south comes to life in this recreation of South Carolina's old city of Wando. This recently remodeled sim depicts a landscape and lifestyle common to the lowcountry area just south of Charleston around the turn of the nineteenth century. Wando is a combination of quaint shops, southern-style homes, and romantic activities to share with your sweetheart. Take a cozy horse and carriage tour of the town, snuggle in a hot air balloon, take a romantic row boat ride, or explore the old Queen Anne pirate ship in the harbor. Visit the swimming hole, enjoy some seafood from Uncle Earl's Oyster bar, or dance the night away in the steamy Kingfish Tavern. Whatever you do on Wando, don't do it alone! http://slurl.com/secondlife/Wando/96/145/22
ReplyDeleteMy number 1 romantic sim are the 2 garden of dreams sims. What those guys did with prims is amazing. My vote goes to Steelhead Gardens in Steelhead. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Steelhead/217/21/30. In addition to beautiful plants and flowers, it is a verdant (well, quite snowy in winter!) oasis in an urban setting. Though not a large area, it has some beautiful areas in which one can lose him or herself. A gazebo, complete with candles, beckons to the couple looking for romance, while in the southwest, a charming waterfall springs out of a craggy, tree-covered hillside. Be sure to look around, for there is a watery subterranean grotto for those who seek more privacy. An intan invites those couples who wish a romantic sunset dance in the park. In all, I think the visitor will agree that it is really a quite romantic little garden.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many wonderful places on the Steamlands and it is so difficult to make a choice, but, being biased I can't help but agree with Mr. Kozlov about the Winterfell Ferry.
ReplyDeleteHowever - being even more biased ;) - I must also remember how much I love just looking at a sunset from the western shores of Winterfell, and in particular from my home sim of Ebonshire : http://www.flickr.com/photos/wildstar_b/5370408065/
I have been a Winterfell resident for three and a half years now and I have always considered the dusk hour of the Twilight Realm one of the most romantic experiences in SL :)
Ai Yi Yi! Remember Lawrence of Arabia? What do you think he would make of Cala Mondrago? Warm sensual sand under your feet (leave your shoes at home!), bellydancing at the Laughing Djinn, sitting on the pier watching the warm seas ebb and flow... wandering up the shore to share a chai. This isn't your momma's Victorian Steampunk, kids. This is a Steampunk Oasis, and it's always very, very steamy. My personal favored romantic spot in the sim would be the small strip of beach beyond the city walls. Hide away together, watch the ocean, gaze across the water to Numantia... and know that you are wilder, less tamed than those across the water.

At the New Champagne Rooms in Seraph City, we've always aimed to make a fun and friendly atmosphere for couples to come and have an unusual and entertaining date night. I love romantic get-aways, so we have a lovely ballroom that can be used any time, but the vintage burlesque shows give people a place to take a date and be entertained too.

I would have to say, the most romantic place in the Steamlands in Stormy Aluveaux's "Le Jardin de Resurrection" in New Toulouse Algiers (slurl: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/New%20Toulouse%20Algiers/142/190/27 )
